THE FORNER FAMILY EXPERIENCE
The origins of the Forner family date back to 1920 when they founded “Vinicola Forner”, a family business located in Sagunto (Valencia) dedicated to the production, marketing and exporting of wines from the area. Exiled to France during the Civil War, Enrique Forner began working in the family vineyard situated in the Minervois (south-east France) and in 1952 became a merchant in the Rhone and Loire Valleys in France.
At the end of 1962, he gave up those two enterprises and in 1963 purchased two Chateaux in Haut-Medoc (Bordeaux) -Chateau Larose Trintaudon and Chateau Camensac, Grand Cru Classe, with the ambition of creating some of the best wines in the World.
He returned to his homeland of Spain in 1968 and chose the town of Cenicero in the heart of the prestigious Denomination of La Rioja to continue his great aspiration. Enrique Forner’s dream came true when he founded bodega Marqués de Cáceres in 1970.
Today, his daughter Christina Forner runs the family business with the same passion and spirit as when it was first established more than 50 years ago in the heart of the Rioja Alta.

Marqués de Cáceres have extensive coverage across six of Spain’s most important DO’s and are developing projects in the Do Rueda, Do Ribera del Duero, DO Rias Baixas y DO Cava, aside from their historical beginnings in Rioja.
