Authentically brewed and bottled in Barbados:

the island’s most beloved and iconic brand.

The History

What started as an innovative idea in the mind of entrepreneur Peter D’Aguiar became a reality on September 7, 1961 when Banks (Barbados) Breweries Ltd. opened its doors for business. Since then, the company has steadily evolved into a globally recognised brand and a business icon in the Barbadian manufacturing industry, with many landmark achievements.

The brewery has won several awards, including gold medals at the 1983, 2000, 2001 & 2013 Monde Selection Ceremonies along with being awarded the International High-Quality Trophy, which is reserved for products that have exhibited exceptional high consistent quality over several years.

The year 2011 saw Banks (Barbados) Breweries celebrate its 50-year Golden Anniversary and ushered in a new era for the company with a move to its new multi million dollar state-of-the-art Brewery at Newton in the parish of Christ Church.

Banks Lager

Since 1961, Banks Lager has paved a path to excellence and its award-winning taste has received top honours in international competitions for its quality, excellence, and brewing technique. Banks Lager is brewed from a pure classic blend of 2-row British and Austrian malted barley, and Barbados’ water, naturally filtered through coral limestone and using their very own special strain of brewer’s yeast.
